Commitment to sustainability practices.
It does not escape me that by producing frames I am using some of the environments precious resources. Because of this I am constantly focusing my efforts on being conscious of my impact on the environment at every step of my production process.
Materials.
All of my Ready-to-Hang wood frames are made using timber sourced from Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) approved sources. The FSC Forest Management Certification confirms that the forest is being managed in a way that preserves biological diversity and benefits the lives of local people and workers, while ensuring it sustains economic viability.
I supply my ready-to-hang frames with glass only instead of using an acrylic which is not easily recycled.
Production.
A curated and limited collection of ready-to-hang frames has been created so I can keep my waste materials to a minimum.
All mountboard offcuts are kept and reused or recycled.
Any glass waste is stored and disposed of at a recycling centre.
I use paper gummed tape in the sealing of frames instead of any plastic backed tapes.
Packaging.
I reuse all of bubble wrap that is used to deliver materials to me when packaging my frames. Recycled Paper Bubble wrap is also used if my store of saved bubble wrap has been depleted. Cardboard is used to package frames that is either made from recycled materials and/or can be recycled after use.
Product Lines.
I am sourcing second-hand frames and restoring them for resell, giving them new life. Only replacing what is absolutely necessary of the glass and boards so as not to use more new materials than are needed.
I will continue to think of new ways of producing and materials I can use to stay committed to being sustainability conscious.
